Servi-car Box

Has anyone ever came across a Servi-car box such as the one depicted below with only 1/2 of the X brace, effectively a V, on the underside of the top lid?

All 1942 - early 1967 7 cu-ft OEM metal boxes that I am aware of have the full X bracing and ribing parallel to the bumper. Several repops have no X bracing at all but rather half round mounted parallel to the ribs and its an obvious way to spot them on eBay.

What made this box unusual, to me at least, was the fact that it has only 1/2 of the X brace on the underside of the top lid.

If this pic doesn't show this is the link @

Thanks flthead but as far as i know the half round are repops from L & W Body http://www.l-wbody.com/

"There is only one type of 1942 - 1963 Servi-Car box. The 1964 -early- 1967 Servi-car box is nearly identical to the 1942-1963 box. The later box is designed for the 1964-later electric start electrical system. The battery box has been relocated into a recess in the floor" (Bruce Palmer III: How To Restore Your Harley-Davidson; pg., 79).

Nice servi that you have there thanks for posting it, flthead. I have that very photo in my internet picture files. A 1917 side hack next to it and a rustoration beyond that, shot in front of a firehouse. Knew the place and the event that was taking place at one time, but it escapes me at the moment...You are right about the repops. Now that the internet makes it practicle to easliy locate the OEM stuff they flood the market with a bunch of product from Taiwan !
