Cool Saddlebags. What Are They?

Anyone know what kind or age these old motorcycle saddlebags are? I like them a lot.

Dean, what do you think for one of your Panheads?

Ebay link is VINTAGE INDIAN - HARLEY DAVIDSON SADDLEBAGS:eBay Motors (item 280359027263 end time Jun-23-09 20:30:00 PDT)

Re: Cool Saddlebags. What Are They?

they look like a set of indian bags for a skirted chief, as they have the fender brackets, and shock reliefs in the back of the bags. they look more like '50s style, but don't hold me to it......

I would agree. They look just like the bags that came with my '53 when I bought it. Only the Ebay items are in better shape (mine were crammed into a box, and had been for many years, and basically disintegrated when I tried to get them out).
The curved top mounting plate is a dead giveaway...only a skirted Indian would have a place to mount this plate. I still have the plates and have considered putting bags on it, but never have.

I thought they were Castro St saddlebags (Blue Oyster brand)

Re: Cool Saddlebags. What Are They?

I have a set identical to these for my 47 Chief. On mine, there is the word "Indian" embossed on the lid of each. I agree, they would look good any ol bike. Heck, they'd dress up a Chi-com moped.
