The term "repop parts" is slang for reproduction parts for your Harley motorcycle.
Some people view repop parts poorly, and the quality of these parts ranges from extraordinary to very poor.
Because Harley-Davidson tends to use similar designs and parts interchangability for so many years, this creates a viable need, and demand, for aftermarket companies to reproduce parts for Harleys. Especially as Harley seldom makes or markets parts for old Harley-Davidsons any more.

Then they jump on the band wagon and sell the same Taiwan parts as the others as genuine Harley-Davidson accessories.

It's sad that H-D chooses to not support the old models with quality replacement parts.

I was in the local Harley Shop the other day picking up oil and a filter, and these two guys were eyeballing some of that stuff hangin on the wall there. They were sporting nice clean HOG patches on the back of their jackets (never mind it was 75 degrees out) and when I noticed what they were intensely looking at and discussing, I burst out laughing, I couldn't help myself.
Oh, what were they oogling over? Coffee cup holders.

That's why places like Old Dude and Tom Faber are important to the old bike industry,,places where you get OEM or if not, quality reproduction.

Its hard to get anything for the Shovels these days from the dealerships. And to ask a "tech" about one gets you the blank stare. Around here the dealer won't touch a shovel. If they do take it in the shop for motor work they outsource it to an independant shop and just take their cut. The parts people with knowledge are a dying breed also, just makes me wonder if oil changes and tee shirts are gonna keep the moco afloat?

I was at the only HD shop here on the island I live on and my buddy needed a battery, so when he was done I thought I'd ask the counterman about a 6V Police battery for my 62. He tries to sell me a 22amp and when I tell him that's not the one, he tells me Harley only had one 6V battery. I knew I wasn't going to find one....I was just humoring him.

the problem with the dealership is they won't pay for a person that knows what they are talking about when they can get some snot nosed kid who grew up watching occ and getting tattoos and nose piercings and think working at a dealership would be a cool job for $8 bucks an hour. looks like a formula for failure to me. it's hard to find an aftermarket shop that can order you the right parts the first time these days for the same reason. i see a lot of unsafe bikes come into my little shop on a regular basis and try to tell them what needs changing or replacing. they just don't believe that someone is allowed to sell them junk or facsimiles of junk for their bikes. j&p and v-twin are the worst IMHO

They seem to be more interested in trying to sell bikes, and accessories, and of course gouge you at the "boutique". Sorry all but "boutique" is just toooo "frilly" for me, if ya know what I mean...just my 1 1/2 cents worth...
