Motorcycle Lift Tables

I'm on the hunt for a motorcycle lift table for my shop. Anyone have any good ideas? Most of what I see online (like from Handy) is in the $800 - 1k range, but I have to believe there are rigs out there that will work just fine for less than that. Let me know if anyone has any suggestions or if thats just what they cost.

Got this one from Harbor Freight. There is a coupon in the Feb. AIMAG that will save you 120 bucks. For just a hobbyist it's works fine.

Re: Motorcycle Lift Tables

I have a Handy lift that I bought used for $400 a few years back.

It's handy because of just needing an air hose and it works out pretty well, but i found the 30-32" work height not to my liking.

I bought a "chinese" lift from a generic tool supplier that had a " air over hydraulic " foot pump system (crappy system) for $600 and bought a 110V self-contained hydraulic unit from Feebay for $125.

$750 bucks is quite a bit of cash for me, BUT, I now have a hydraulic lift table with a working height of 44" and the pain of the expense is long gone.

I guess the question is " will it Really be a benefit in the long run ? "

In my case, it was.....

Re: Motorcycle Lift Tables

I definitely need the higher work height as Im taller and thats the whole point. I think it will certainly be worth it, just dont want to spend more than I need to.

I don't think I paid $300 for the Red Chinese ("Harbor Freight") foot pump lift I bought on sale. Do a search in the forum, here. The floor lifts have been pretty thoroughly examined.

Re: Motorcycle Lift Tables

I paid $299 for mine, Harbor-Freight foot pump lift. With the coupon that is out now you can pick that up for $279.00. For the average joe wrench that's cheap for getting off your knees.

Re: Motorcycle Lift Tables

I think the harbor freight model is all I need. here is my question though....is the 29.5" lift height enough? THey make a 1200 model that goes up to 33" I think -- so bears more weight and goes higher. I'm tall so feel like I need that extra height. worth the extra $100?

Re: Motorcycle Lift Tables

I bought a floor jack, got some old heavy wall steel fence posts and did this...

It took me a bit to figure the geometry, but it works.
As the floor jack lifts the front, the back seems to hesitate, then comes up a little later...then when fully up, the bike set's fairly level.
I guess if you had to buy all the pipe etc. it could cost a $200 including the floor jack.
An air over hydraulic jack would be nicer, but I have the expensive Handy Lift now, so I never retrofitted this lift with the air/hydraulic jack.

Need better pic's, and measurements?? just ask, I'll go out and do it.

Re: Motorcycle Lift Tables

My vote is for the handy lift ( I have 1-electric & 2 air ones) they are expensive. But the second you use it you'll forget all about what you paid.
