Greeting from NJ!

Hey everyone! Hope all is well...

My name is Mel and I run Motor Speedway which is the 1/8th mile drag strip at Englishtown Raceway Park in Englishtown NJ... I have been heavily into vintage cars and bikes for a while now. I currently have a few early ford hot rods, a 22 T, 30 sedan, 32 roadster, 34 and 36 3 windows... I have several bikes too a 65 panhead, a 39 flathead, and a few frames and parts. Im looking foward to meeting new people on here as well as spreading the word of all things vintage and hopefully we can bring some people together to make some really cool stuff happen...

Motor Speedway caters to pre 1958 cars and pre 1965 motorcycles only... Every other weekend we give average riders and drivers a chance to come out and race thier bikes or cars down the eigth mile strip and all you need to ride is a helmet, leather jacket, and gloves!

We have a bar that we disguised as an old barn decorated with old car and motorcycle parts, live bands coupled with a killer DJ who is spinning the tunes and brining the MOJO all night long... we built a huge drive in movie screen and show old bike and car movies, b movies, 50's movies, creature features, and basically anything off the wall and under the radar... And saturdays we have drag racing, all out run-what-ya-brung no bracket, no BS grudge match drag racing... The entry fee to raace is 20 dollars but you arent limitted in how many times you can run down the track as long as you pass a simple tech inspection and have the proper safety gear... You can come and just watch and show off your ride too, 15 dollars lets you come hang out, watch the races, and enjoy the company of fellow vintage car and motorcycle people... Every event is a living history lesson, and our goal is to educate people of the roots of our hobbies and to have a lot of fun doing it!

Our next big event is July 11th... The North Eastern chapters of the Antique Motorcyle club of America are comming down as well as the Southern New Jersey Chapter. They are going to be exhibiting thier vintage bikes as well as racing them down the 1/8th, we will have live music and a swap meet... events will start at 10am and go all day, think mini Rhinebeck with drag racing!

Welcome to the Forum, Mel....! Awesome thing you got going there! Too bad it's so far for me, otherwise I'd be right there. Hope you enjoy the place here and get to know some of these guys......

Oh, fair warning--- they will demand photos of the bikes and hot rods!

Re: Greeting from NJ!

Hey Mel,
Welcome to the Forum!! I am currently in So Cal but I have fond memories of South Jersey and Englishtown. I ran Brackets there in the early 70's with my Honda 500/4 And I spent a huge amount of time there all through the 90's
Motocrossing with my Son. It's always been a great facility and it sounds as though it is even better now!!!!
Shoot us some pics of the facility and the July 11th event, we'd love to see them.
Bill
