47 Chied spark plug wire tube

I have had this chrome wire tube, and thought it will look better on my chief, rather than in a pile of parts in a box. I attached it to the top cylinder brace, by the tube clamp, but it is way offset to one side, and don't look straight. What am I missing? Thanks Stan

dwhendri. Thanks for taking the time to take a picture, and post it. I kind of thought I was missing something, (the small bracket.) I see you also used allan head screws to mount your carb. I couldn't find any button head, and had to use regular allan screws, which work just fine. Stan

Re: 47 Chied spark plug wire tube

No problem Stan, happy to help.
I looked on-line at Jerry Greer's website, and I couldn't find any spark plug tubes for Chiefs (all they list are tubes for 4's). However, in the Greer's paper catalog, on page 31 (group 16) they show Item 2, which is a Kit, Spark Plug Wire Tube. Fit's 37-53 Chiefs. P/N JG-2428. Consists of the tube, bolt, washer, nut, and clamp. I also noticed an item 13 - Strap, spark plug cable tube support, P/N 40594 (looks like a piece of flat stock with 3 holes).

I like the button head allen screws that attach the carburetor. I never thought they weren't original - but again, looking at Greer's website, I see that the carburetor mounting screws they sell don't appear to be button heads. Oh well, one more reason the old girl will never be a show bike!
