6 volt halogen?

Does anybody know if a retrofit halogen setup available for 6 volt sealed beam?
I want to keep the 6v system on my 36 chief, (Yeah my wife says I'm anal too) but this is a rider and night time is really a drag at 25 MPH.
And before anybody says so, Yes I know the 36 wasn't supposed to be sealed beam but I have made some later year concessions for the sake of a rider and this was one of em! ('38 CI oil pump was another)

Well, I guess sometimes I just can't see the forest through all the trees!
I was looking in automotive stuff. Never thought to ask Gary.
Thanks for the help.

Re: 6 volt halogen?

I bought my 6v /35w Halogen bulb for my 35' Chief from Hirsch Automotive in Newark NJ.800-828-2061. It has the 3 hole base and no adapter required for my application.

Re: 6 volt halogen?

This is what I am thinking of doing with my 1923JD. Rather than modifying the existing reflector (needs re-silvering anyway) I would buy this Halogen chromed reflector meant for old cars from Restoration Supply Company.

This is from pg.10 of their #27 catalog. Download it at
RSC

Took 30 minutes on my landline. They have lots of items and supplies that relate to motorcycles. ...bill in oregon

Re: 6 volt halogen?

28JDCA, that sounds lik a great Idea for a bulb and reflector setup.
I'll keep that in mind if I get it to the point that I want to go lens & bulb.

35CHIEF, how is that working for you? I'm wondering how it handles the shock from New Hampshire backroads with the leaf spring setup. I know in this corner (NE) of CT I've already lost the low beam filament on my sealed beam. I'd be interested in seeing some pics of the '35 and possibly getting together. Are you AMCA? Yankee Chapter Christmas party maybe.

Re: 6 volt halogen?

Hey 35CHIEF,
Can you give me the part # for that bulb?
That was a sealed beam was it not?
And by 3 hole base, do you mean three spade terminals coming out of the bulb base at nine, twelve and three o'clock?
Thanks,

Re: 6 volt halogen?

Part number from Hirsch was EH-2330, it was $32.00 with shipping 2 and a half years ago. I worked well for 2 years until I dropped it while cleaning the reflector and broke a contact on it. I replaced it with an old bulb with one broken filament, and need to order up another. It is just the bulb with the 3 spade/hole base like you said. I will hope to make the Yankee Chapter Christmas Party, will stay tuned. I will try to post a picture or two tomorrow.
