Paint Question (and more)

Now that I am retired I actually have some time to work on a couple of projects (in addition to the the Honey-Do list of course). Finally got the Kelsey Hayes rim apart for the 49. Broke 4 spokes which isn't bad considering it sat for over 30 years.

#1. Does anyone know of a source for OEM single spokes and nipples.

#2. What type of paint do I use on the hubs? Source for it as well.

#3. Finally got 2 OEM hubs for the 76. Are the spokes chrome? Can I use the
polished stainless spokes and nipples or will it cost me at an AMCA meet
(3 years and counting).

#4. What kind of paint do I use for the hubs? Source for it as well.

I can't answer you questions, but I will say "Congratulations" on your retirement!
Myself, I don't think I can ever afford to retire, I tell everyone I will go "80-and-out" when I'm 80. (Union thing)

What is wrong with your old spokes and nipples? I go to the custom shops here and they either give me used spokes or sell them so cheap it seems like a gift.
Why not simply have them re-cadmium plated along with all of the other parts of the bike? Cadmium plating is the cheapest thing you can have done.

The AMCA allows stainless spokes. Usually have them blasted to remove the shine. The problem is they ruin the look of a restored machine.

Big...thx, it's just that at 61 I am a bit long in the tooth to be doing the SWAT stuff, and I could not see myself going back to patrol and pulling a beat as a supervisor.

Chris, thanks for your your resposne. I was hoping you would chime in. I intend to take the original spokes and have them refinished appropriately. The problem is...I am minus four due to breakage. So I need a source that will sell me individual spokes and nipples, hence the question.

Guess my question regarding the 76 is...What is the correct finish for spokes and nipples...cadium or chrome. Then I can figure the right way to go. She will never be a high-milage bike so the closer to correct the better.

Cadmium was original.
My guess is that you only broke the spokes and not the nipples? So you need four spokes?

Cadium it is then. The spokes broke just inside the nipple. I do not have an easy out small enough so I will need nipples as well.
