58 and up regulator

Hi list, I was wondering if someone could give some insight/opinion as to why HD chose the area near the rear exhaust pipe to stick the voltage regulator on post 58 machines. A Pan is such a pretty engine and the voltage regulator looks out of place - they didn't even try to make the regulator look good (IMHO). Was there really no other place to tuck it in?

Joe

Re: 58 and up regulator

hello joe-----i'm restoring a 58 here in gallatin tn and wondered the same thing. i liked it better when you could build them the way you wanted to. no money in that now though. i think it should have been mounted on the generator for better cooling

On the Police bikes they hang it on the left side over the coil....at least that's the way my 62 is.
