| | | 57 servi car frame help needed
Hi, I am the proud owner of a 1957 Servi Car I recently bought on ebay. From what I was told the bike was setup as a drag bike and raced in the 60's at National Speedway in Long Island, NY. I am considering doing a restore of the bike to original or at least semi-original. One of the previous owners did some cutting on the frame and I am having a hard time finding pictures so I can see what has been cut off. I don't know if I can mount a box without having the frame re-built, maybe someone has a few good pictures and dimensions to help me out. Here is a link to some pictures I took when I got in home from Kentucky: Got it home
This is the frame I have to work with ( I have circled four points that have been cut): frame
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you

Hey, it's a pretty cool rig like it is..!
Be patient, someone here will have just the info you need. Have you tried the "Search" button yet? Give it a try, you can find it in the menu bar near the top of this page.

Man...way cool. Think I too would ride it as is. Put a cushion of some type so that your not sitting on bare metal but it is definitely 1 of a kind!

leave the machine as it is. Why? If you like an original tricycle: better be patient and wait for a good one. This one is changed and cut too much. Leave it as it is , clean and polish it, and sell it. If you try to make it original you`ll pull your hair out after some 1, 2, years. Or keep it in your garage and have patience. One day somebody turns up liking it and buying it.

I agree it looks cool but I'm not into the "coffin box" on the back or the dual straight pipes in my ears I'm looking at doing a custom backend, not a traditional box, but the way the frame is chopped, standard suspension is going to be hard to do and after two back surgeries and a future of several more I'm not interested in riding hardtails any more.

There's nothing ever been done to a frame that can't be corrected, restored, fixed, repaired, and brought back into service. Trust me on that. All it takes is the right man working on it, and........ (lotsa cash...! )

Drag racing a Servicar????
Your frame isn't hurt too bad. Once you find another Servi-car to look at you will see what the mounts for the box look like. Making new ones wouldn't be too hard of a task for a decent machinist.
Note on the picture below that the mount for your hydraulic brake master cylinder is not shown.

That racer Harley Servicar is amazing. Don't think I have seen a dual carb 45 before.
Take lots of photos and keep notes as it might make a great story here on in print (think American Iron Magazine).
Good luck and have fun with that old Harley!
