'morning all.
A friend of my wife's husband has a old H-D stored in a barn. Yeah, yet another barn bike. When we went out to visit them once I got to see it. Just like in the stories we hear & dream about, a stall in a barn with an object covered by a tarp.
When tarp was removed I see a old H-D, flathead it appears. Apparently had sidecar once upon a time, but they sold the sidecar to someone else with the proviso that if that person ever decided to sell they'd get right of 1st refusal. Naturally that person ignored that & sidecar is long gone. But the bike seemed fairly intact & both they seemed small back then. Wasn't running.
Anyhow, flash forward a few years & I'm pretty sure that bike is still out in that barn, not going anywhere. The couple is in the midst of a not so nice break up (he's still up here, she's moved down South) & I've asked my wife to check to see what they're doing with that old bike, 'cause I think it would be so nice to get it back on the road, like it should be.
I was wondering what an old flathead like that, in reasonable, non-running condition, should go for these days? Just to get a feel for how much to offer them. I figured that $4-5,000Cdn would be more than fair?

Not only is it worthless it has a Gypsy Curse on it. Give me its location and I will properly dispose of it so no one is harmed.
Rather than making an offer ask them how much they want for it. You may be better off.

Like Chris said, Better to let them set the price... if you mention too high.... then you spent too much money... if you mention too low...they could be offended and not sell to you.
then Pictures is a MUST!! gotta get pictures all the from before you pull the tarp off thru to actually owning the bike....
Good luck, keep us informed.
Oh, no offense Chris, I just aint superstitious,..... Gypsy curses dont work on me I have super un-natural psychic powers that seem to cansel them thar curses... Maybe I should visit that barn ahead of time and cansel the curse.

It might be any of several different models, if a "Harley Flathead." Age and condition enter enormously into it, but the value is probably four figures. Snapshots would make it much easier to pin down.

I could use the help Scott. It is a big load to travel the whole country saving people from these curses.

I barely escaped being saved from the Gypsie Curse that my '52 was infected with.

I think I know thay guy. I am going to call him today. (just kidding) I had a chance for a late model four motor, and a early motor. at a very good price. I was just waiting for some money build up. In the meantime I told several people about the motor I was going to buy. Some how one of the people found out where it was, and bought them out from under me. Now I will not even tell my wife if I am looking at something to buy. There is another good lesson of thoes who snooze lose. stan
